How can our American family live in Japan

How can our American family live in Japan?
My partner and I would like to live in Japan with our daughter for 3-6 months. He is skilled in carpentry and could run a crew. I have a college degree. We want to make a plan for living in Japan somewhere we could each get jobs, but not in a huge city. We want a plan for making enough money to comfortably take care of our family. What is your advice for getting jobs and on where to live? Thank you!

Do you speak fluent Japanese? Even if you do, your husband will not get a visa to work in Japan. You might get one to teach English as a foreign language. Overall, I would say that you do not have much of a chance of success.
2 :
my cousin works in japan as an english teacher. he has a degree in psychology. if you dont have a degree then you will not be approved for a work permit. japan is very strict.
3 :
not recommending move to japan. stay where you're
4 :
Japanese is inconvenient, and there is not it and thinks it to be able to acquire the domiciliation permission economically if stable. But I think that it is not the time to emigrate now because there is not work. this wed sight is immigration of japan. check it if you wann move to japan anyway

If you are a graduate, you should look at applying for the Jet Program http://www.jetprogramme.org/ This is a massive scheme run by the Japanese government to place graduates from English speaking countries in schools as assistant language teachers working with the English teachers. You can choose to work in very rural areas. The more rural, the more welcoming the community is. You become an "english speaker in residence" and you end up doing all sorts of stuff in the community, not just working in the schools. I went as a young graduate, but there were quiet a few families that went out on the program, and the communities they were sent to really took them to their heart. You are looked after well by the Japanese government, the pay is okay, a family isn't going to save anything, but they won't be starving in the street either. Your husband will be able to get a work permit because he will be the spouse of a visa holder. Minimum commitment 12 months (there is no job that is going to take you for 3 months minimum, it would take you more than 3 months to find something once you were out there). All in all, a big adventure, with the safety net of it being an established program paid for entirely by the Japanese Government. Get your skates on, I think applications close in December.

One requirement is that you have to beable to speak japanese fluently. IF you dont they will deni you residency.. Guidelines for Permission for Permanent Residence Legal requirements (1) The person is of good conduct. The person observes Japanese laws and his/her daily living as a resident does not invite any social criticism. (2) The person has sufficient assets or ability to make an independent living. The person does not financially depend on someone in the society in his daily life, and his/her assets or ability, etc. are assumed to continue to provide him/her with a stable base of livelihood into the future. (3) The person’s permanent residence is regarded to be in accord with the interests of Japan. In principle, the person has stayed in Japan for more than 10 years consecutively. It is also required that during his/her stay in Japan the person has had work permit or the status of residence for more than 5 years consecutively. The person has been never sentenced to a fine or imprisonment. The person fulfills public duties such as tax payment. The maximum period of stay allowed for the person with his/her current status of residence under Annexed Table 2 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act is to be fully utilized. There is no possibility that the person could do harm from the viewpoint of protection of public health. ※ The requirements (1) and (2) above do not apply to spouses and children of Japanese nationals, special permanent residents or permanent residents, and requirement (2) does not apply for those who have been recognized as refugees Special requirements for 10-year residence in principle (1) The person is a spouse of a Japanese national, special permanent resident or permanent resident, and has been in a real marital relationship for more than 3 years consecutively and has stayed in Japan more than 1 year consecutively. Or, the person is a true child of a Japanese national, special permanent resident or permanent resident, and has stayed in Japan more than 1 year consecutively. (2) The person has stayed in Japan for more than 5 years consecutively with the status of long term resident. (3) The person has been recognized as a refugee, and has stayed in Japan for more than 5 years consecutively after recognition. (4) The person has been recognized to have made a contribution to Japan in diplomatic, social, economic, cultural or other fields, and has stayed in Japan for more than 5 years.

To get a work visa for Japan you need at minimum a Bachelor's degree from a real 4-year university, no matter what job you are applying for. You also need to be hired by a Japanese employer BEFORE you move to Japan, since they sponsor your visa. There is no shortage of auto mechanics in Japan, and thus no reason for a Japanese employer to choose you over the many Japanese applicants for the same job. Hiring a foreigner is very expensive and risky, so they only do it when absolutely necessary. Japan is not like the US where any illegal immigrant can easily find work. They are EXTREMELY strict about visas and employees. Sorry, but I think your only chance is to join the military (if you are American) as a mechanic and hope to be transferred to Japan, or marry a Japanese who is willing to move back to Japan with you.

I agree with jettoblack. There is no reason for Japanese employers to hire you. But I believe you still want to know how to be a car mechanic in Japan. I'll tell you. You need car mechanic license (自動車整備士) to work as a car mechanic in Japan. The license has level 1, 2 and 3. 1 is the most advanced. http://www.mlit.go.jp/kokkasiken/seibi/seibi_.html The above government site has information on the license. To take this exam, you need to graduate from junior high school and have at least 1 year experience in working in a car industry IN JAPAN. So you can't take it. But HONDA has a school for car mechanic. And they accept foreigners. If you really want to become car mechanic, you try it. https://www.hondacollege.ac.jp/honda_e/nyugaku/nyugaku6.html

How much does a good place to live cost in japan

How much does a good place to live cost in japan?
Hello. I'm thinking about going to study in Japan. I'm trying to get as much information as I can. For those who have lived in Japan as foreign students, all I need to know is the price of a good place to live in Tokyo or Sendai with basic plublic utilities, bathroom and toilet; I don't need a kitchen. What about food? How much was your monthly expense in food? How much was your monthly expense, not regarding your tuition? Web sites and blogs don't give me enough information, just averages. I need real numbers based in your personal experience. Personal comments regarding other issues are welcome. Please, help me with this. Thanks to whoever answers this.

you don't want to know .... and probably more than you could afford. Tokyo is the most expensive cuty in the world ... I live in the second most expensive city and its between $800-2000 for a 1 bedroom apartment with a shower not a tub, its extra if you want a tub.... So I'm roughly at $3000 a month give or take a few hundred dollars ... And this is without tuition.

How does an American Live in Japan for the rest of his life without becomeing a Japanese Citizen

How does an American Live in Japan for the rest of his life without becomeing a Japanese Citizen?
As it seems quite complicated to actually become a Japanese citizen, and I have heard of people living for many years like 15 or so in Japan. I want to know how this is allowed? I would really rather become Japanese, but if all I can do is live in Japan, then that will do as well.

The country may not allow you to become a citizen - EVER. It's EASIER than you think! They don't WANT you to become a citizen!
2 :
the same way mexicans do it here. Cut some grass, and pick potatoes
3 :
By special request , you can be killed at the airport.
4 :
Maybe you have to marry a Japanese citizen. My son also would love to go to Japan. His girlfriend is from there, maybe they should get married so he can go back with her.I used to live in Hawaii, there are many Japanese people there. They are so peaceful and nice. Perhapes you have a job skill that would help you over there. i know that teaching English is popular there. good luck.

Wikipedia says to become a Japanese citizen. It doesn't seem quite that difficult but they are rather strict. I think the hardest thing you may find is to give away your nationality (I know of a few people who became Japanese and they say they don't allow dual citizenship and most of them change their names to Japanese ones). ---Continuous residence in Japan for five years or more At least 20 years old and otherwise legally competent History of good behavior generally, and no past history of seditious behavior Sufficient capital or skills, either personally or within family, to support oneself Stateless or willing to renounce foreign citizenship ---- Easiest way with them in marriage. *shrugs* PS Don't ever try to sneak into Japan. Their rules are very tough and you don't want to get caught out. They will do a lot more than the US will if they find out you're not legal.
