I want to live in Japan and teach English as a Second Language. What do courses do I need to take in college

I want to live in Japan and teach English as a Second Language. What do courses do I need to take in college?
What do I need to do? Is it an ESL degree or just a certificate? I can't get any good answers from the internet and KGB is useless. Please someone help me out. To put it simply, someone tell me exactly how, starting in college, how to become an ESL teacher in Japan.

It's hard to say for certain. You can get course certificates but not all places may recognize them. I've always heard its better to get a full ba in order to get a job with a credited school.
2 :
You really MUST invest in either a field of study at college that covers ESL or take an external course (certificate) that will qualify you to do ESL - without this your 'native speaker understanding' of English will come under scrutiny & you'll loose face if you can't tackle grammar questions with confidence. I taught without it - just a university BA degree - but learnt on the run, not advisable as the ESL 'industry' is more competitive these days. If they run the JET programme, try that or just hit the streets of any major Japanese city & go see all the various ESL servicve providers. Make sure you present well, look keen & be polite.

Learning Japanese for one, and secondly (from friends who've visited) learning how to travel without a car. Skills that most of the Japanese rely on is English-speaking skills. You can get a job as a teacher and then moonlight as a tutor.
2 :
Teaching English is poorly paid. Become an offshore financial advisor or suchlike if you want to make money.
3 :
If you dont have very fluent Japanese, you are limited almost exclusively to teaching English (something that i have personally found.... less than pleasing). Average foreigner salary i would guess (for these positions) is equal to about 2500 to 3000 dollars a month for a full time position. If you have a university degree, try to find a job in your field, though many of these positions require natural japanese proficiency (and certification of it) to find a job. Best of luck to you friend.

Computer engineer, programmer, engineer They say that now Japan lacks specialists in technical disciplines.

Probably. Shipping alcohol and glass is usually a problem. You can bring it back in your luggage when you return though.
2 :
It's dangerous to ship glass bottle. But we can buy canned sake in Japan. So it's better to ship canned ones.
3 :
You would have to check with the Canadian authorities about that. Be sure and send a good one though!!
4 :
theres a lot of sake in canada, whats the point of sending them a sake the best thing you can send is a japanese mountain bike, i've seen one and its very good compare to others
5 :
the canadian border services agency site says... "Determine whether or not the goods you want to import are subject to restrictions or other requirements. For example: Alcohol products: Check with the authority in your province or territory (i.e., liquor board or commission) for restrictions." http://sbinfocanada.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zu=http%3A//www.cbsa.gc.ca/sme-pme/i-guide-eng.html shipping alcohol shouldn't be too big a problem it's shipped all over the world somehow.
6 :
why don`t you tell your friend to just go to the liquor store and buy a bottle of sake, like a normal person.
7 :
To the people who suggest just going to the liquor store, the sake available outside Japan is usually not of the best quality. Simple.
